Course Summary: This course considers British human prehistory from Neanderthal to the Iron Age and how Britain’s Stone Age and Bronze Age might be taught in KS2. The day plans to start with an overview of Prehistoric history (dates, terms and recent thoughts). Focus on Stone Age Briton – ways of life, clothes, monuments and other interesting stuff. How much to teach overview or depth? Ideas of classroom activities and linking to Chronology. So what changes with the Bronze Age? Is this worth a 2, 3 or 6 week project? What type of activities could be most helpful? When does Bronze become Iron? Is prehistory worth teaching?
